erthos® has entered into a collaborative partnership with Colgate-Palmolive to explore potential sustainable packaging innovation using ZYA™
erthos®, a climate tech company advancing sustainable materials, has entered into a collaborative partnership with global consumer goods leader Colgate-Palmolive to explore potential sustainable packaging innovation using ZYA™—erthos’ AI-powered materials discovery platform.
ZYA™ leverages nearly a decade of proprietary in-house lab data and domain expertise, and cutting-edge fundamental models to design sustainable material formulations and deliver valuable insights in low data environments. As part of the agreement, Colgate’s packaging innovation and sustainability teams will receive direct access to ZYA™ and play an active role in shaping the platform to support their packaging roadmap.
“At erthos®, we believe the future of packaging isn’t just about new materials—it’s about reimagining the systems behind them,” said Nuha Siddiqui, CEO of erthos®. “Through our partnership with Colgate-Palmolive, we’re building a new playbook for sustainable packaging with ZYA™—demonstrating how technology, science, and leadership can unlock the scale and speed needed to move the world beyond plastic.”
Key goals of the collaboration agreement include:
#1 Significantly reducing R&D time and cost through faster material screening and higher success rates of trials.
#2 Identifying and optimizing hundreds of industry biopolymers, additives, and naturally occurring polymers based on performance, cost, and compliance.
#3 Accelerating the market launch and scale of sustainable materials in markets with evolving policy and consumer demands
ZYA™ will enable Colgate teams to virtually design materials that meet both performance specs and sustainability targets—cutting development time and improving commercial viability.
“Improving the performance, usability, and sustainability of our packaging materials is a key priority for Colgate-Palmolive,” said Greg Corra, Colgate-Palmolive’s Senior Vice President of Global Packaging. “We are very excited to support erthos® in their development of the ZYA™ platform, and eager to collaborate in accelerating and enhancing the material development process.”
This collaboration marks a critical step toward redefining how consumer brands can leverage AI to scale next-generation materials and eliminate plastic waste globally.
About erthos®
erthos is a Toronto-based pioneer in sustainable materials, driving the next generation of high-performance, planet-positive solutions. Founded in 2018 with the mission to tackle the global plastics crisis, erthos began by developing high-performance alternatives to traditional plastics using biobased ingredients. Recognizing that material innovation alone isn’t enough, erthos built ZYA™—an AI-powered materials innovation platform designed to address one of the industry’s biggest challenges: scaling biomaterials. ZYA™ combines a proprietary ingredient database with unique machine learning models to predict performance, match applications, and guide scalable formulations. By bridging material science, AI, and industry collaboration, erthos is reimagining the systems needed for a materially better future.
